All you see below may no longer exist because of the current civil war going on in Syria.
In a cluster of narrow streets the smithies mimic small warehouse bays opened to the observers. With the endless pounding in the background, the metalworkers hit and bend the metal with no help of any machinery. Blow by blow, using hammers that sound like an effervescent marching band, the beat goes on for the duration of their working day. This was a place where men do their craft in an extremely primitive way and we thank them for the opportunity of letting us see the beauty of their hard work and age old craftsmanship.
