Target issued a press release stating that they will raise their minimum hourly wage to $11.00 per hour and commits to increasing their minimum hourly wage to $15.00 per hour by the end of 2020. According to their press release, the company has 323,000 team members and 1816 stores.

Considering that the retail industry is currently in a difficult place, this increase shows that the company understands that their employees need higher wages to live. Hopefully, other companies will also move towards raising their minimum hourly wage. More of the wealth needs to be shared with employees. $11.00 per hour is still a long way from paying someone a livable wage. However, the minimum wage will increase at a faster rate as more companies realize that it is good business to pay a fair wage.
