La Aurora: The original cigar factory in the Dominican Republic

Located in Santiago de los Caballeros, La Aurora is the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. La Aurora was founded in 1903 by Eduardo León Jimenes, the son and grandson of tobacco growers. Jimenes was 18 years old, had inherited a few acres of land in the community of Don Pedro, Guazumal, Tamboril, and started out with six employees. Today, La Aurora is the leading cigar factory in the national Dominican market and its brands are sold in more than sixty countries around the world. The company has a presence on five continents and has more than a thousand employees.
