Paranapiacaba is a district of Santo Andre city, near of downtown São Paulo, Brazil. It was built between 1860/1867 to house English workers and their families who settled in the site for the construction of The São Paulo Railway Company Ltda.
The city is divided in two parts by a wooden bridge: one side was colonized by the English and the other one by the Portuguese, who saw a commercial opportunity there.
A curious fact about Paranapiacaba is that the first official soccer field in Brasil was built there by the English community for their leisure.
These photographs were taken on a day in 2012 during a site visit which features a London fog that falls on the city at a certain time of the day.
