This Aperture published book is a nice selection of Manuel Alvarez Bravo’s black and white daily life artistic photographs that took place in Mexico from the 1920’s though the 1990’s. Every photograph has strong impact and is museum quality. The portraits display raw emotion and I especially like the photo taken during the 1930’s of Frida Kahlo sitting and painting . Two historic top artists! The painter and the photographer taking her photo! (Page 59)

As Paul Stand states on page 46, ” Manuel Alvarez Bravo’s work is rooted firmly in his love and compassionate understanding of his own country, its people, their problem and their needs.”
