Photographer Violaine Chaussonnet is the Edge of Humanity Magazine contributor of this photo essay. From the project ‘Memento – By a thorn in my flesh’. To see Violaine’s body of work, click on any image.
For this project, I used my working tool: a microfilm reproduction bench for the national archives.
I placed my body on it, I placed natural elements on it, alternately. I let the random process work.
Photographing as archiving a body, my body and plants destined to dust.
The living body, full of desire/the body in pieces, covered with plants.
Return to the nature of the body, flesh destined for the earth.
And the force of desire against death, desire for life, desire for creation,
with always in the background, the sting of death.
