This small art series of abstract expressionism paintings evolved from a raw consciousness. This intuitive connection to my hidden emotions, experiences and memories, resulted in a spontaneous expression of my unique color language. Neons are an integral part of my work. The Candyland series is conceptual, suggesting a theme park of candy, taking the viewer to another world of color, excitement and fun. The inspiration for the artworks was completely drawn from my childhood memories, having growing up in New Zealand where a $2 pick ‘n mix pack of sweets was the highlight of the week. Each original painting, acrylic on canvas, has a candy-themed name; Fruiti Fizz, Candyland, Poppin’ Candy, Sugar Fix and Sugaristic.
My intention for these colorful abstractions, is to bring forth the inner child, to let go and escape (if only for a moment), from our everyday stresses, by evoking nostalgic emotions and memories within my viewers.
