The first recorded agricultural show took place in Lancashire in 1768. Since then, they have become an important part of life in rural towns and villages across the UK. The shows vary from small, one-day events to huge shows lasting three days or more. However, changes within the farming industry have put the long-term future of some of the shows in doubt.

I spent two years photographing traditional agricultural shows in the North of England, documenting the people and the animals that attended the events. I focused on the older, more traditional shows, to capture a part of rural life that may disappear within a decade.
