This Prairie Man project is a continuation of a much larger project that I have been working on for the past fifteen years. In 2007 I retired and returned to my childhood home in Illinois USA. The reason for the return was to document this region that was once known as Forgottonia. A land that was unnoticed by the state government thus causing a decline in infrastructure and transportation. Colleges left, trains quit running, and businesses relocated all because of the lack of adequate transportation. I wanted to document this land and its people to try to gain some recognition and respect for these hard working individuals that supply food for the world. The first twelve years of this project produced three books. Now I am returning to the basics of photography by shooting black and white film with a medium format camera. My intentions are to focus more closely to the individual men and women with honesty, truthfulness, and respect.
