Listening to The Lovers Next Door

“Willy was a salesman. And for a salesman, there is no rock bottom to life…

He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine.

And when they start not smiling back, that’s an earthquake.

A salesman’s got to dream, boy – it comes with the territory”.

From “Death of a Salesman”, 1949 by Arthur Miller.

Yesterday was a Good Day

A lot of traditions are being lost as new technologies have conquered our world.

The door-to-door salesman is a relic from the 50s.

In Vignettes of a Salesman, we follow a lonely, faceless salesman on his never-ending rounds…

     the last of this kind.

About the artist:

Ole Marius Joergensen (born 1976) is an artist with a background in film and photography, based in Asker, Norway.

He is best known for his meticulously staged cinematic photographs. With the use of theatrical light and vivid color juxtapositions, Ole Marius’ work emphasizes the mystery and duality of rural life in the modern world.

A child of 80s rural Norway, he became fascinated with the popular narratives told on screen by American movies. Drawn to the descriptive narrative and quality of light, he found himself wanting to create his own stories.

Influenced by the work of the mid century painters, as well as 19th Century painting traditions. His work often depicts ordinary situations infused with a unique narrative that unlocks an unexpected mystery that feels both old and new.

Ole Marius’ work has been exhibited widely in the United States, Asia, and Europe. His work can be found in private collections in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Oslo, New York, Madrid and Berlin.
