We map the paths of stars
As tidal pools of moonlight
Age the grass. Hours pass

Dew soaks our heels,
Shoulders, jewelling
Our siren trailing hair

Your chart made, committed
Burned into memory
You sleep in my embrace

Wake. Wake sweet pilgrim
Wake and find the cloak
Made from my ragged shirts

Let your golden hair
Be silvered. Sold and bartered
For the perigee you seek

Become the setting sun
On hilltops. Sprays of diamond stars
Against the sward of night

When evening winds lift
Hairs along my arms
I shall listen long,
Listen longing
Warmed by distant echoes
Of your prayer

Ruswa lives in London. He is a descendant of a long line of poets and artists and is keenly aware of the impossibility of living up to that legacy.
