There is no Alzheimer’s for people who are cognitive.
Families will not have copious amounts of guilt,
leaving their loved one,
in a home that is really not a home.
Residents will be known as human beings,
and not a census number.
The smell of urine,
will be replaced by the freshness,
of a June morning meadow.
Books to sign in and out of,
will no longer exist,
and locked doors will fade away.
To be replaced by opened porches and opened familiar doors.
People will respect the wiser population,
by listening to their book of life.
No meds with side effects will enter anyone’s body.
Banish the rules of what to eat.
What to wear.
Where to sit.
No small spaces to dwell in.
No restrictions from being your true independent self.
Wheel chairs, walkers, and canes,
will be melted down into swings.
Reaching the levels of laughter that makes your heart soar.
