Photography is etymologically traced, written with light.

The bodies are sculpted, written by joys, sufferings, wounds, scars, the wrinkles of time, encounters, the caress of touch… The imprint of the gesture confirms that “the deepest is the skin.”(Paul Valéry)

To bring out shadows, bodies, rewrite them, highlight the relationship of these bodies with writing, calligraphy, with this set of signs that contain the secrets of different cultures.

On the other hand, nature and landscape elements offer us many anthropomorphic evocations: trees, pebbles… also the desire to confront faces and bodies with plants and minerals is strong.

We invite you to enter this game of circulation of signs.

The result of my work appears as X-rays that are imprints of the inside or as palimpsests that the viewer can decipher by browsing through the layers of the thickness of my desire, following his desire.

CALLIGRAPHIE ET TOTEM

Exhibition of 20 to 60 gelatin silver print on baryta paper formats 30×40 at 90×90 cm and 120×50 cm

Philippe Timmerman lives and works in the North of France, he has been captivated by photography since the age of 15, following an internship organized by his French teacher.

This passion was strengthened following his meeting with the Regional Center of Photography Nord-Pas-de-Calais and in particular during training with Marc Trivier. In the early 90s, his interest in portraiture materialized with the publication of "Portrait d'Université" at the CRP.

He cultivates his interest in art, contemporary dance where he finds his inspiration, but also in everything that makes his daily life, including elements he collects from nature, his wild garden, fabrics...

He uses photography a lot, both in digital and silver photography and with ancient processes. He also makes casts and prints with various techniques, which he mixes with elements found in nature.

He has created multiple series of images, where he combines all this, for example: " Dis-toi que nous ne finissons pas de naître " where he confronts faces with works of art, with the idea that we are reborn every day thanks to our encounters.
