When the unnecessary recedes, space, light, and form gain significance. Through reduction, a particular sense of stillness emerges, allowing subtle colors, textures, and details to take on a new presence.

Rather than simply depicting a landscape as it appears, my intention is to reinterpret it through careful composition and reduction. Familiar places can become quieter and more abstract, gradually detaching themselves from a specific location and moment in time.

This process reflects my own desire for calm and clarity. I seek to create images that leave room for contemplation and personal interpretation – an invitation to pause, look more closely, and discover beauty in simplicity. For me, solitude is not an absence, but a space for reflection and a way of experiencing the world with greater awareness.

Born in Zug in 1963, René Schädler has been expressing himself creatively in various ways since childhood. He discovered photography in 2017. Since then, he has spent a lot of time in nature and exploring urban areas. Vastness, silence and solitude combined with aesthetics and minimalism characterize his style. The untouched nature or the sleeping city serves him as a model. René Schädler is married and a father of two grown-up children. He lives in Switzerland and has won several international awards with his photography.
