A space and time set apart from the frenetic activity of not only the outside world at large, but the vigorous growth and deliberate cultivation of its more immediate surroundings.
Shrivelled and desiccated were the plants within, but no less fascinating for that. Beside the greenhouse an early indication of more temperate conditions – the tentative arrival of some precociously early spring blossom, blown from its branches and superimposed upon the outside of the glasshouse above the dying foliage.
Contrasts such as these fascinate and delight me and so I continued to build on this contradiction by layering texture upon texture, old upon new, dark upon light and playing with scale as I moved my camera around in this mysterious environment, both otherworldly and familiar.
