“If you can do something to get your revenge
make certain to do twice”
The Dark Side Of Female Online Revenge Groups

Written by Edge of Humanity Magazine Staff

Reports indicate that roughly 43% of men have experienced online abuse.

We are not far off when we say that the digital space has made vengeance easy. Today, you can seek revenge from almost anyone and everyone, especially your ex-partner, with just a click. In fact, online communities dedicated to female revenge are on the rise, with members willing to go to extreme lengths.

Most online revenge diaries start the same way. What was once a personal vendetta soon turns into a coordinated effort, thanks to these ‘support groups.’ Whether it’s causing emotional distress or reputational damage, female revenge groups don’t limit themselves.

From communities on social media to online Forums like Reddit and Quora, these groups are hidden in plain sight. For instance, someone had posed this question on  Quora- I cannot stop thinking about revenge. What should I do?

And one answer instigates this member. They say, ‘If you can do something to get your revenge, make certain to do twice or more damage to the one who caused you harm, destroy them if possible.’ All this without knowing the complete story. So, when you are vulnerable, you tend to fall for such harmful advice.

When we take a look at the psychology of a basic act like revenge, anger is the motivator. It is seen that the prospect of getting back at someone can be so appealing to some because there is a sense of satisfaction associated with it.

Initially, women join these revenge communities so they don’t feel alone. But slowly, the reasons change. On one hand, their fury needs some validation to keep it alive, and on the other, they are already looking for revenge ideas that these groups can fulfill.

Most people tend to start small like harassment calls or hurtful comments. It’s like dipping your feet in the pool before taking the plunge. But when the excitement of revenge feels far greater than anything else they have experienced, things take a dark turn.

The recent case of Jennifer Plantz exemplifies the dangers.

A few years ago, Plantz met a man online and went on a date with him. Nothing panned out between them and they went their separate ways. Or so he thought. Soon, she started making up stories about him, saying he assaulted her. Mind you, at no point were they even intimate.

She even got him arrested three times with false accusations. As you may understand, it made his life hard. Fear and anxiety became the man’s companion.

She kept bothering him for years, causing him a lot of stress and making him move three times and change his phone number many times. Thankfully, justice prevailed and she was sentenced to a 15-month conditional house arrest.

But not everyone is so lucky. As you can see, just a date gone wrong can go astray. All this is because a group of women choose to support and aid toxic behavior.
