Threshold

Written by Jan Kirchner

We stand where the concrete bleeds into moss,

where city lights flicker and forget their names,
hands trembling at the railing of tomorrow—
unsure whether to leap or rebuild.

A child draws galaxies in dirt,
a woman sings to no one in the alley,
a soldier dreams in static.
We watch,
and wonder if compassion is a language we’ve lost,
or merely buried beneath convenience.

This is the edge,
not of war or silence,
but of forgetting
that we are made of the same fragile stardust—
and we can still remember.
