In November it crept from well-concealed lair,
scandalous as a leaked document, exposed like a naked MP
caught in flagrante.
A snarl, a claw, raw with hunger this tiger freed,
eyes wild with greed and outrage, fear
confusion, need.
Perfect polite reticence cloaked now in mania
continued to wreak slow havoc, like dawn’s blaze
rattling sleep.
It came
departed
will visit again.
No one spoke of it …
