The Evil Eye is a series based on the rooted Italian tradition of the superstition or Malocchio. Malocchio is best described as a curse, though strangely, can be something as simple as a compliment. Reflecting on my nationality has allowed me to focus on certain cultural elements which I think have made me the woman I am today. Superstitions have been part of the Italian culture for thousands of years and even if you don’t associate yourself with these believes like me, you will inevitably know at least a few. I was intrigued to know how far these believes would go and how in fact they originated. I challenged myself to visually represent a few of these bad omens and decided to stage still life scenes in the studio by using the energy each omen gave me.
