The series Opium was created in 2020 in response to my own emotional and debilitating journey of overcoming the toxic and destructive grip of codependency. In my own personal life I, with painful clarity, saw the resemblance of the substance dependency and less obvious but equally dangerous ways the addiction to people (or love) can play out.
