Written by Yongbo Ma
The body is floating on dim water
Feathers of seagulls fall on the stones
The morning light slants into the water
The broken shadows of peach flower are swirling
Shadows under the water remain still
We had a boat race, reciting poems
and see who will live longer
Our oars could not disturb the underwater darkness
Our beloved women stay on the bank
Like white antelope stamping feet over our heads
She is the last one,not yet waking up from yesterday’s drunken dizziness
Things are the same this morning.
When we stop rowing,we hear time rather than water
Sunshine bright and high, fish swimming freely, deep in the pond
Peach flowers are at their fullness
Well above the crowns of pine trees, always dull green
