Anserine No.20 – Shining My Light

shadow and light

darkness, like black holes,

I shine my light in

with the words of my

right brain, coaxed free

of my creativity,

I tell my truth

expose injustice,

hold it to the light

until like the night sky

it shines with starlight

a backdrop for the moon

my lady Luna

who controls time and tides

serene Goddess

my lady travels the night

a ship on the waves

and the dragons in their caves,

I shine my light in

darkness, like black holes,

shadow and light.

This blog contains poetry, while she favours short forms, The Vixen of Verse also writes longer poetry with attitude when she is moved by some strong emotion.

There are other regular features, like the gratitude journal, positive affirmations, and good vibes. There is also humour in the mix with ‘you are never too old for Snoopy’ and ‘Cats’ World.

The Vixen of Verse likes to support her community, fellow poets and creatives by advertising events and reviewing ones she attends. She is also happy to feature re-blogs of other poets/ bloggers. She occasionally writes a ‘Just saying’ feature when she feels a rant might be in order!

Carolyn Crossley is the Vixen Of Verse and has been writing her blog since April 2020. She is a published poet and has been published in many anthologies, including The Short of It, Vols 1 & 2. She was a semi-finalist in The Bermuda Triangle Prize, 2023. Carolyn is also a spoken word poet and performs at selected ‘open mic’ sessions. She is a member of The Daily Haiku and Cherita Poets Online poetry groups. She lives and writes in Oldham, in Greater Manchester, with her two cats, Miss Molly and Sooty.
