Written by Stuart Rushworth

Of children explaining

That they have no money, but by bedtime

When the hot sun goes down and the shadows

Return to their long weave

They will come running back in bare feet

Or at least tomorrow or the day after that

Or between schools

Marriages

If he should recognise them

He should mention it

Or they turn to me

Forgive me for growing up

And if I should happen to have fifty pence

And Mr Please does not mind

Which he doesn’t

Smiles.
