Tired feet schlepped his obesity
Slowly and painfully over
The rough gravel road
No shoes protected his feet
and with each step onto
Sharp angular stones, their teeth,
cutting Into his tender flesh
Leaving pinprick spots of blood
A trail of his agony written in his eyes
Escaping from his lips, pleading
To his demons.
Out. Out. Out
Echoed down the long white corridor.
