At the Unposed Society Hannover, we are dedicated to the art of street photography as a means of capturing authentic, unfiltered moments of everyday life. Our mission is to celebrate the beauty of spontaneity, the diversity of human stories, and the power of the urban environment as a canvas for creative expression.
We strive to build a community where photographers of all levels can connect, share their perspectives, and refine their craft. Through workshops, exhibitions, and photowalks, we encourage the exploration of the streets as a source of inspiration and storytelling. By focusing on the unposed and candid, we aim to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary and to challenge conventional perceptions of beauty and truth.
Our vision is to establish street photography as a bridge between art and life, fostering a deeper appreciation for the moments that often go unnoticed. Together, we capture the pulse of the city and preserve its stories, one frame at a time.

Uwe Merker

Uwe Merker has been taking photographs since his youth. Initially analogue and with his own black and white development, he later experienced the digitalisation of photography at first hand.
Today, his pictures want to tell stories. Scenes are photographed at exactly the right moment, sometimes revealing subtle humour, sometimes compassionate tragedy. The artist captures fleeting moments that are often overlooked or forgotten in everyday life.
The photographer’s black and white shots, on the other hand, are more intense, with which he wants the viewer to taste the salt of the road.
Merker often uses reflections to give the images a new depth and add further dimensions to the stories.
