Just a simple teenage peasant girl, skilled seamstress,
her voices told her to save country and king –
a king useless, cowardly, unworthy of her
devotion, selfless leadership, courage in battle,
struck by arrow and crossbow’s bolt,
captured, maltreated by enemy and traitor alike.
Tried for heresy, her defense staunch,
unassailable, falsely convicted by
trickery and falser priests, sentenced to
a fiery death by inferior minds and men
who burned this simple teenage peasant girl
whose internal voices led her into
the flames of eternal honor and respect.
