From shadowy depths and sludgy mud,
The stems arise holding truth in bud—
Where silt and slime hold hope of spring,
Their silent hymn births a choir to sing.
Beneath the weight of the world’s decay,
Miracles unfolding every day.
The leaves unfurl on water, still and dark,
A floating stage, the act of life to make a mark.
No ripples stir the heavy pond,
No currents push the sludge beyond.
In that quiet, slumberous, secret, deep,
The seeds of beauty wake from sleep.
And from the mire, so dark and dense,
Emerging blooms with no pretense—
Yellow, pink, white, and purple crowned,
Their quiet beauty is so profound.
Green circled pads with ribboned edge
Turtles bask on the sun-dappled ledge.
While life ascends from dark to light,
Leaping frogs dive in joyful delight.
Dragonflies, wings like jeweled lace,
Flit from bloom to bloom in fleeting grace.
Their duty done, they fold their wings,
The lily pond in all its glory sings.
The petals fall, the moment passed,
That sacred act has life that lasts—
Fat green pods, serene and round,
In spotted discs, the seeds are found.
Back to the sludge they softly fall,
To start anew, they heed the call.
A cycle born of dirt and grace—
Of rising from the lowest place.
We too, through darkest trials, are led,
Emerging from the lives we’ve shed.
We rise, we bloom, we fall, we sow—
Giving freedom and love a chance to grow.
Grace and beauty, joy and light,
Rooted deep in the darkest night.
Each generation’s wisdom to impart
In this great pond—the human heart.
