Over the past five years, during walks through London and Paris, I’ve photographed scenes that caught my eye — unplanned, fleeting moments unfolding in public space. These images weren’t made as part of a specific project, but rather as a personal habit of paying attention to the everyday.

Taken between 2019 and 2024, these photographs reflect my approach to street photography: quiet observation, intuitive framing, and a curiosity about the subtle ways people, light, and the city interact.

Photography is something I pursue in my free time — a way to slow down and connect with my surroundings. Whether it’s a solitary figure, a playful juxtaposition, or a passing gesture, I’m drawn to details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Artist Statement

My name is Tommaso Carrara. I’m an Italian-born information security professional based in Paris, with a strong fascination for candid photography in public spaces, working with both analog and digital cameras. I began photographing a little over three years ago, guided purely by instinct. I’ve never followed a strict theme or message — I simply capture what draws my attention, whether it’s a street scene, a striking building, or a quiet moment in a landscape. To this day, I’m not entirely sure what drives me to press the shutter. What I do know is that I enjoy the process immensely. It gives me a sense of creating something personal — images that, even if unplanned, carry my own visual fingerprint.
