Artist Statement

When I set the streets of familiar or less familiar urban surroundings, it's a game of orchestrating elements that evoke emotion, combined with the unexpected character that completes the story. I may control the lighting and frame positioning, but it’s the people who bring their unique stories to the frame. The secret ingredient is allowing them to speak through motion, stillness, or a glance.

My mission is capturing the surreal hidden in reality—not in its raw form, but through the dynamic between the right setting and the perfect subject.

Nenad is a Zagreb-based photographer and graphic designer with a strong background in fine arts. After graduating in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Education in Zagreb, Nenad worked as an illustrator and graphic designer, creating visual identities and branding for a range of publications and companies before founding his own studio in 1990.

Eventually, photography became his true artistic expression, offering him a creative outlet he deeply connected with. His journey began with his first solo exhibition in 2014, and since then, he has held eight solo shows and gained recognition at international competitions, including the Sony World Photography Awards and various FIAP titles.

Nenad’s work reflects his graphic design background with a focus on composition, visual storytelling, and a distinctive use of light and form. His photography displays a refined sense of aesthetics, blending elements of balance, color dynamics, and spatial harmony traditionally associated with fine arts. This fusion of skills creates a unique photographic language, rich in depth and artistic insight.
