I feel as if I’ve been turned inside out,
Organs exposed,
Secrets tumbling out.
Everything is blackened and charred,
Blood everywhere.
The children recoil in horror,
The adults pass the blame around,
Holding up their hands and shaking their heads.
Until,
No one is to blame.
And so,
It continues.

I’ll never understand.
How you (women), how we (all of us),
can be forced,
Beaten,
Humiliated and coerced into giving so much
For nothing but misery in return.
