My memory repurposes our love affair
a curated masterpiece
tucked away in the edges of
of my heart
A love left in the museum of summer
an ocean away
oleanders and sunflowers in full bloom
Your lips curved into perfect symmetry with your stories
Chills enveloped me
listening to you hold your vowels
that accent caressed every inch of my body
each sentence, one after the other
brighter than the last
it is never night in your skin
I know it wasn’t real
to have loved so soon
How fun would it be to make believe
our wedding on a hill
next to the little restaurant
where the June rain
kissed our foreheads
We would drink our red wine
jump on furniture
swirl our hips, dance around crowded cities at midnight
I have never met anyone like you
colors on a canvas I didn’t know the world offered
Blood made of espresso and fresh pressed olives
light draping you
my favorite exhibition
I wish I could frame you
keep you by my bedside
Yet art like you
must be shared with the world
