diverCity is part of a long-term project that I began in Istanbul and continue to pursue today. From the very beginning, my photography has focused on people and life on the streets. With its rich socio-cultural layers, Istanbul has always served as an extraordinary open-air studio for me. If I were to describe this city—spanning two continents, divided by the sea, and bringing together people from countless cultural backgrounds—with a single word, it would be diversity. The streets of this vibrant human mosaic are filled with surprises, ready to emerge in unexpected moments.

Based in the vibrant city of Istanbul, I am an almost self-taught photographer whose journey began in the film and darkroom era—an experience I consider myself fortunate to have had. Since 2006, I have been working in the digital realm. Photography is an ongoing personal exploration, shaped by a continuous search for the unexpected and the unnoticed within the familiar fabric of everyday life.

For me, street photography is less about revealing and more about concealing. While shooting, I look for candid, subtly unusual moments that often go unnoticed. Rather than presenting a complete narrative, I aim to spark curiosity and engage the viewer’s emotions and perception, leaving space for them to complete the story through their own interpretations.
