I have been visiting this place on the Canary Island Lanzarote for many years. This is a beautiful, serene but also sometimes very wild spot where one can experience the powers of nature with strong winds, powerful waves and the mostly bright sunlight creating a constantly changing landscape with a lot of great panoramic views but subtle details as well. In my long-term project, I try to capture these different impressions. I’m using black and white photography for its abstract impression and aesthetics.

Artist Statement

I’m not a professional photographer but an amateur with a long-lasting passion for art in general and especially photography. I started photography in my childhood in the late sixties and since then constantly explored its technical aspects and artistic values. In the days of analog photography, I mainly preferred black and white photography and did all the lab work and printing myself. In the digital age, color photography became an interesting genre for me as well and the possibilities in image processing were and still are very exciting, but I’m concerned that the increasing use of AI may soon damage the photography medium to a degree, at which going back to film/photographic paper would be very tempting.
