Written by Arron Hickman
I’ve spent so long
inside my own head —
thinking with it,
dreaming with it,
deciding with it,
loving with it,
and hating with it.
But now,
when I pause and really think,
I see how much time I used up
trapped in my mind —
so much that I forgot
where my heart was.
So I place my right hand
to my chest…
There.
I can feel it —
the quiet beat
of a lonely heart
tapping gently
against my palm.
And I decide —
I will tell it now,
make a vow,
hand on heart:
I will never
leave you alone
again.
