I found freedom
when no one was looking

In the middle of the day
Home alone, wiping my tears away

They were tears of joy
for the little girl in me who returned

Finally – I recognized the woman in the mirror looking back at me

I saw her beauty
I saw the glimmer return to her eyes
And it took me by surprise

After years of longing and searching for something to fix me…

I found freedom

in the mirror

when no one was looking
