« The fantastic journey” is a series of photomontages made up of images from my daily life, an infinite photographic playground where the image is manipulated with complete freedom. Blurring the lines between reality and imagination, I wander along the border between these two worlds.

“The fantastic journey” is also a work about memory: by reworking and mixing images from my photographic journal, I question my memory and my imagination, which, over time, transform these past moments. The fact is, we will never remember exactly how these moments unfolded.

We will never know if it was real.

Biography

Sarah Bouillaud was born in 1985. She graduated from the Icart Photo school in Levallois. 

Through photomontage, her specialty, Sarah Bouillaud develops a photography that constantly explores the boundaries between reality and fiction, a territory where imagination and play take center stage and where the image is manipulated with complete freedom. 

Her practice extends beyond her personal projects: she undertakes illustration commissions for press publications. She also leads therapeutic photography workshops in hospitals. 

In 2013, her work was selected for the SFR Young Talents Award, and in 2017, she participated in the Les Rencontres du 10ème festival with her series Le Voyage Fantastique. In 2019, her series Odissea was screened at the Les Voies Off Festival in Arles. In 2020, her visual journal project, *De l’autre côté du miroir* (On the Other Side of the Mirror), was selected and exhibited at the Hangar Art Center in Brussels as part of the Brussels Foto Festival 05. The following year, her work was presented at the Shanghai Photo Fair. 

In 2025, her series *Credo.* was presented at the Incadaques Festival in Spain. 

In 2023, her series *Odissea* was exhibited at the Polka Factory, and in October 2024, a book dedicated to this same series was published by Éditions Revelatœr. Sarah Bouillaud is also a member of the Hans Lucas agency.
