Tens of thousands of Haitian people crossed into Canada from the United States  in the summer of 2017, prompted by a decision from President Donald Trump to terminate temporary protected status that has allowed 60,000 Haitians to live and work in the U.S since the 2010 earthquake ruined the country. This induced fear into a large number of the Haitian community who no longer wanted to await an insecure fate in the U.S. Canada might not be the haven they think, this series of photographs are of some Haitian people in Montreal who wait for an answer from Trudeau’s government as to whether they’ll be deported or can stay as permanent Canadian citizens.
