sac of potatoes fell off the truck
like my life
never any luck
cars zoom by
my thumb up
no one stops to give me a ride
the day marches on and on
I sit on the side of the road
watching
potatoes rot under the sun
pull out my Swiss army knife
pealing a couple of spuds
today’s dinner
people in their automobiles go by watching in horror
