My Mississippi Journey represents my relationship with the river as an incredible force of nature. The people who live along its banks and within its watershed share this experience. The Mississippi is well used and sometimes abused but will never be controlled. These pictures try to capture this experience from its source in Northern Minnesota to the levy in New Orleans. The river is constantly flowing and changing and sometimes we can capture her uniqueness, for a moment, but we will never control her.

Pete Mutschler is a Winona, Minnesota based photographer. His photography is a continual work in progress. Pete considers every day as a chance to learn new techniques and to create something special using his craft. It was during his journalism studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison that Pete first got serious about photography. His focus back then was monochrome images created with a film and a wet chemistry darkroom. He then took a 35-year detour to work as an environment and safety professional. He continued to see potential images every day and has returned to his passion for creating seriously about 10 years ago. His darkroom is now a computer, and his creativity has no limits. Pete has since retired from his environment and safety career, achieved a professional photographer certification, and spends time each day creating images. He is consistently in the top 2% of the ranked photographers in Pixoto and Photocrowd and will have his first solo exhibition in January 2025. Pete’s current focus is capturing the energy and passion created by communities. Pete is goal is to that create images that tells the communities story and what makes it special. He is also exploring how different communities connect with each other and how a photograph collection can best show the connection. Pete is always looking for ways to grow his photography skills and touch people’s emotions with his images. Pete believes strongly in Ansel Adam’s statement; “You don't take a photograph, you make it.” Pete cherishes the opportunities to meet people attending his exhibits and shows. He loves listening to their opinions of his work.

Amazing photographs! Really loved them.
Boats upon the water are poetic and majestic. Your photos are both.
These are wonderful photographs. Thank you.
Gwen .
Stunning photos!
Fantastic photographs of something I’ve only seen a few times. Mark Twain should be pleased with your river review.
