Downtown Montreal is a series realized in October 2024 during my first encounter with this city and the people who live here. Who move here. Who hustle and bustle. Who eat here, laugh here, smoke here, work here, grow here, play here, pee here, meet here, cry here, run here, meet here, create here, sleep here, suffer here, build here, study here, sing here, talk here. Wonder.

An artist with an atypical background, my name is Nina Level, and I currently live and work in the Jura region of France.

I use the camera as a tool to freeze an image without necessarily trying to convey an idea or a message. My approach is more oriented towards a visual sensibility than towards the search for a photographic language as such.

In my approach, there's a plastic projection of the image with a bias and a quest for others. I'm genuinely curious and always want to confront reality to nourish myself. A reality that I often find constraining and uncomfortable, with the idea that I take what I'm given. I constantly play with my uncertainties, knowing that it's impossible to capture the moment.
