You know, I still feel it.
I wouldn’t say every waking second, but most moments.
Moments in crowds where my mind disappears, nightmares become walking dreams.
Silence so deafening the blasting lyrics fade away, transforming into that shrill whine I can’t escape.
Eyes appear a glossy gaze, almost lifeless amongst the turmoil not seen.
The laughter I don’t see.
Making me cry for what if I have never seen?
Weeping when I realise, I’ll never be seen.
Time ending around me, blurring faces of sleet and sheet.
Seeing myself in the corner, untouched, unheard.
Hearing the demons whisper upon my ear, telling of the pitiful, painful pretence, persona I place.
Or person I miss every waking, deafening second.
I miss the man I never was.
The man I never was, misses a girl that was forever, never.
