In this project, I use the technique of multiple exposures to explore several artistic traditions that nourish my visual research. I am particularly inspired by Futurism, through its fascination with speed and movement, as well as Cubism, whose decomposition of reality reveals structures that remain invisible at first glance.

Both movements invite us to move beyond the simple perception of reality in order to uncover its deeper mechanisms. Multiple exposure thus becomes a tool of analysis that allows me to constantly question the complex relationships between subjective vision and the world around us.

Through this approach, I seek to reveal a reality that exists beyond immediate appearances. This search for essence can only be achieved through a demanding formal investigation capable of progressively separating Being from the sensations produced by the human senses. The resulting images do not seek to faithfully represent the world, but rather to reveal the dynamics, tensions, and hidden dimensions that run through it.

Artist Statement

My work revolves around the question of perception and the way images can reveal what usually remains invisible.

Through photography, multiple exposure and various visual experiments, I seek to create spaces where memory, movement and identity intersect. I regard the image not as a reproduction of reality, but as a field of investigation.

Each series becomes an attempt to explore the relationships between what appears and what evades the gaze, between the physical presence of the world and its mental dimension.

My influences draw equally from the historical avant-gardes of the twentieth century and from philosophy and the human sciences. This diversity nourishes a practice in which photography constantly dialogues with other artistic disciplines, particularly sculpture.

"The most intense moment of pleasure for me is the creation of a vision that, until then, existed only in my thoughts."

Bio

Born in Italy in 1977, Luca Izzo moved to France at the age of thirty, where he has lived and worked ever since.

A multidisciplinary artist, he has spent several years exploring the boundaries between photography, sculpture and visual arts through a practice where psychology, philosophy and the memory of the body converge.

Since 2012, his work has been part of an ongoing experimental process inspired by the artistic legacy of the twentieth century. He investigates form, matter and identity by creating connections between photographic surfaces and sculptural density. Each work becomes an attempt to transcend traditional categories and establish a dialogue between the still image and volume, presence and absence.

His work has been exhibited internationally, from Paris to Milan, Arles to New York, including Moscow, Athens and Ostend. Notable exhibitions include Regards sur le Corps in Arles, MIA Photo Fair in Milan, Surrealism at the Fotobiennale of Ostend, and Desformes in Nice.

His artistic practice has received several international awards, including distinctions at the MIFA, TIFA, BIFA and IPA competitions. In 2017, he was named Best New Talent at the PX3 Prix de la Photographie de Paris, where he also received two First Place awards in the Fine Art category.

Today, Luca Izzo develops a visual language in which the body, gesture and trace intertwine. Without emphasis or provocation, his work inhabits an in-between space, a place of tension and balance where the viewer is invited to move beyond appearances and perceive what may ultimately escape all representation.
