“Hestelle and Alexander Harper have been married for over 50 years . In 2005 Alexander was diagnosed with cancer and in 2006 he had a stroke. From then on the change in his behaviour and memory problems led to a diagnosis of Vascular Dementia . Hestelle became his full-time carer . This story shows the wife’s love and dedication to care for her husband and her life after he passed away in 2013. ”
Alexander had limited mobility. One of the spare bedrooms located upstairs was converted into a living space with a TV and sofa. His bedroom was only a few steps down the landing.Daily routine. Hestelle goes to check on Alexander. This means making a number of trips upstairs everyday.Resting .
