Travel Photography & Stories From Around The World

TANZANIA
Rain
This was taken in Tanzania. I was working with WaterAid shooting stories about water and sanitation. We arrive at a village that was about to sign an agreement that would start the process to get help. The chief and all the village were crammed into this building but something was wrong and the chief would not sign. So as not to influence the situation I and my WA contact went and sat in the car. That’s when the skies let rip. As with most of the places we went to westerners were a rare sight so the children were curious. This was a fleeting second but it was ours. No agreement was reached that day. I really hope it has since.

GHANA- Girl Ghana suffers from Guinea worm. It's a microscopic worm that is ingested with unfiltered water that then permeates the gut. It ends up growing in your bloodstream and as it get larger lodges itself. Thats the point it tries to escape it's host. This girl was in a day hospital that we were doing a story on where they extract the meter long worms. It was quite shocking to witness and so sad that by having fresh water would mean it would be easy to avoid.

CUBA I fell in love with Cuba the minute I got there. It was unique and visually stunning. Everything was familiar yet movie like. At some point you have to get a ride in a 50’s car. This was from a series about umbrellas which everyone seemed to sport.

CUBA Phone Cuba was cut off from the world and therefore stuck in a time warp. Landlines were as good as it got. This is one of a series on that subject

MALAWI Woman and child. Another WaterAid trip. This lady had benefitted greatly from the new tap stands her village now had. She no longer spent hours getting water. Instead she had set up a cafe and was able to send her children to school.

FRANCE The future A vintage car fair in France. I just loved the expressions. Old before their time and playing stereotypes.
