I am the oldest of three, but more like a mother than a sister. A fractured family and a tornado of trouble thrust me into adulthood overnight. I constructed a family of siblings, both real and assumed, to keep me from drowning in this place of my birth – a place I hated everything about and could not wait to escape.
When the escape came, I found myself homesick – not for a physical place, but for my home – my loves. Between Home and Here captures the essence of these people, elevated beyond their circumstances, and allows me to take them with me wherever I go.
