The Metro is the most rapid and economical way of getting inside of a big city. In Rome, every day, about 750,000 people travel by Metro. Here the chaotic movement of the city finds moments of suspense. On the faces of passengers you recognize expressions of deep thoughts as if they were dreaming. The peculiar underground motion brings on big city alienation. The dive in the underground creates the opportunity for a break. The commuters become a cross-section of social substratum of the capital. Yet, in a disenchanted and dreaming vision at the same time, these people seem to emerge from timeless past and distant places.
