Civil War mural, Pollard Memorial Library, Lowell, MA 2011 The library contains a stunning collection of artifacts including a series of murals depicting scenes from the Civil War. The local writer Jack Kerouac frequently used this library.

Athenaeum Library, St. Johnsbury, VT 2001 The painting is by the famous nineteenth-century German-American artist Alfred Bierstadt of Yosemite Valley in California.

Western History Center, Denver Public Library, Denver, CO 2012 The Western History and the Genealogy Collections are some of the largest and most celebrated in the West. The building was designed by Michael Graves.

 

Vault and door, Central Library, Kansas City, MO 2012 After remodeling the former First National Bank, the Central Library moved into this building in 2004. The old bank vault, part of the 1925 bank addition, contains walls of steel and reinforced concrete and a 35-ton steel door. It has been converted into a movie theater showing a variety of films in partnership with local film groups.
