Big flocks, global markets, devaluation of handcrafts and the fallen prices of wool and meat have an impact on the shepherds way of earning a living today.

Shepherd Vogel herds his flock of sheep and goats in the eastern German landscape conservation area near the river Oder.  The sheep help to preserve rare flowers, plants and the landscape in general.

Vogel’s life is shaped by the contrast between hard physical work, love of animals and nature.

An hour’s drive away from the Capital Berlin, time goes slowly here.
