Nestled in the mountains between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey, Kurdistan remains a mythical territory, without recognized borders, and Kurds a stateless nation. Of these four countries, only two officially recognize a region under the name of “Kurdistan”: Iran with its province of Kurdistan and Iraq with its autonomous region of Kurdistan.
