Hermit Poet’s Answer: 

 

As we get older the idea of freedom changes to that of independence. Being able to function on our own is extremely important.
Yes, freedom is chipped away from many corners, as the elderly must rely on others to do manual work, and to assist in situations that are nerve-wracking for an older person.  And as our bodies age, there are also a major increase on medications, doctors visits, and other unpleasantries that are amplified by old age.
